Sweet little set of small books by Richard Harding Davis including Cinderella, The Kings Jackal, Gallegher, Soldiers of Fortune, The Lion and the Unicorn. 5 3/4 x 4 in. Leather. Gilt top edges. Beautiful gilt spines and gilt titles. Bindings tight, slight rubbing to top/bottom of spine. No names or writing. Would make a lovely gift to a book lover. Richard Harding Davis was born in 1864 to two prominent writers/journalists. He became a managing editor of Harper's Weekly and worked for several New York newspapers. Davis was a good friend of Theodore Roosevelt and helped create the legend surrounding the Rough Riders. In World War I he was arrested as a spy, but released. He was one of the leading writers of his time.
